Mid-Century Modern Italian Amanta Chairs Mod.24 by Mario Bellini, 1970s
For sale are 3 Amanta Mod.24 chairs designed by Mario Bellini for B&B Italia. They were manufactured in the early 1970s. These differ from the standard Amanta chair by being narrower and lacking the thin vertical notch in the middle of the back. The Amanta chairs are difficult enough to find, but the Amanta Mod.24 chairs are even rarer. These chairs were rescued from a university lounge, and as such, bear the scars from decades of institutional wear. All of the frames have yellowed from sun damage, and this fact is made all the more obvious by the small white rectangle on the back of each chair where a university inventory tag used to be, which protected the space underneath from fading. There are also some dark scuffs along the lower edges, though these would mostly be removable. The brown upholstery, while exhibiting little wear, is sun-faded on most of these and would need to be replaced. The cushion material is in excellent shape on all of them, however. The black, rubber ball feet are also in good shape. These chairs can be used separately or lined up as love seats or sofas. Dimensions: 32"deep, 24" wide, 25.5" tall.
