A vintage bike isn’t just a mode of transportation.
It's a timeless piece of art that can transform your interior space.
Whether it’s a beautifully weathered frame, a classic design, or a pop of retro color, a vintage bike brings charm and personality to any room.
Creative Ways to use a bike as a decorative element.
A classic bike can be a striking and versatile decorative element, adding character, nostalgia, and a unique focal point to both indoor and outdoor spaces.
Mid-century interiors and classic bikes are a match made in heaven and here at Lumini Collections, we have dedicated an entire section of our website to one of our family passions: Italian steel vintage bikes.
Italian steel bicycles from the 1970s and 80s are celebrated as icons of craftsmanship, performance, and enduring style in the cycling world.
This era is often regarded as the golden age of road cycling, with Italian manufacturers like Bianchi, Colnago, Cinelli, Pinarello, De Rosa, and others producing frames that set new standards for quality and innovation.
These bikes were typically constructed from high-grade steel tubing, often Columbus SL or Reynolds 531, and were renowned for their lugged frame construction, which provided both strength and a distinctive aesthetic.
Chromed finishes and the cromovelato technique-chroming the steel before applying a transparent paint-were hallmarks of Italian style, lending these bikes a gleaming, timeless appearance.
From the Giro d’Italia to your living room
One way to complement your interiors by using the vintage bike is using the bike as a centrepiece in your living room.
You can either hang it or rest it against the wall, or, with the help of a stand, simply have it more central to perfectly meet the style of your modern interior.

Our passion for Italian road bikes
Our passion for classic bikes, like everything else in our showroom, has deep roots in our family history.
Paolo Lumini’s uncle was a frame builder at Mascagni in our hometown of Livorno, before opening his own workshop to craft custom road frames.
As children, both Zeno and Guelfo rode bicycles handmade by their great-uncle. Today, Paolo still prefers to get around by bicycle, keeping this family tradition alive

The bikes in our collection.
Fully restored by expert mechanics, the vintage bikes you’ll find in our catalogue are carefully selected pieces, originally built for road racing at the highest level of the sport.
The very best of the Italian production are the masterpieces of artisans such as Ernesto Colnago, Ugo DeRosa and Giovanni Pinarello.
Ernesto Colnago - Il Maestro
Just recently retired at the age of 93, Ernesto Colnago opened his own shop in 1954 and began building frames. Colnago gained recognition in 1957 when Gastone Nencini won the Giro d’Italia on a Colnago bicycle. In 1960, Luigi Arienti won a gold medal at the Rome Olympics while riding a Colnago bicycle.
Colnago's partnership with Eddy Merckx significantly influenced the company's success and reputation in the cycling world. This collaboration began in 1967 when Colnago supplied Merckx with custom wheels for the Milan-San Remo race, which Merckx won.
The partnership deepened in 1971 when Merckx joined the Molteni team, for which Ernesto Colnago became the regular bike builder.
Colnago's dominance in the 1980s and 1990s was marked by groundbreaking innovations, iconic victories, and partnerships with some of the most successful teams and riders in professional cycling.
To date, Colnago bikes remain synonyms of Italian craftsmanship and are among the most desirable bicycles in existence.
