Italian Space Age Opaline Murano Glass Pendant Light, 1970s
A striking Italian Space Age pendant light from the 1970s, featuring a sculptural white opaline Murano glass shadecomplemented by brass suspension fittings. Its distinctive UFO-inspired silhouette reflects the futuristic aesthetics and innovative glassmaking traditions of Italian mid-century lighting design.
Sculptural Space Age Design
The pendant features a generously proportioned opaline Murano glass diffuser, characterised by its elegant rounded profile and prominent raised circular band wrapping around the centre.
The symmetrical, almost floating appearance creates a striking Space Age silhouette, reminiscent of the futuristic forms that defined Italian design throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
The glass is complemented by brass fittings with an original aged patina, providing a warm contrast to the smooth white surface and enhancing its vintage character.
Opaline Murano Glass and Soft Illumination
Crafted from white opaline Murano glass, the large diffuser offers a beautifully smooth and luminous surface.
When illuminated, the glass distributes a soft, warm and atmospheric glow, emphasising the sculptural contours of the shade while providing gentle, diffused lighting.
A distinctive example of Italian Space Age lighting, ideal as a statement piece above a dining table, in a living area or within a contemporary architectural interior.
