1990s Kinnasand “Jive” Wool Rug

A striking “Jive” wool rug, designed by Catharina Dramborg for Kinnasand in the 1990s. This example features an intense deep blue central field surrounded by a brighter blue outer border, with contrasting geometric details in red, violet, pink and dark blue.

The repeated motifs are arranged rhythmically across the central field, while the striped geometric border creates a strong frame around the composition. The saturated colour palette gives this particular Jive rug a bold presence while retaining the clean, structured character of the design.

Kinnasand — A Historic Swedish Textile Company

Kinnasand has its roots in Kinna, Sweden, where its mechanical weaving mill was established in 1873. Over the following century, the company developed from a traditional Swedish textile manufacturer into an internationally recognised producer of furnishing fabrics, carpets and interior textiles.

Throughout its history, Kinnasand became recognised for its emphasis on textile design, material quality and graphic pattern, working with notable Scandinavian designers and developing collections for the international interiors market.

The Jive rug comes from this later period of Kinnasand's production, combining the company's textile heritage with a bold use of colour, geometry and pattern.

Pure Wool and Bold Geometric Design

Crafted from pure wool, this version of the Jive design is distinguished by its particularly rich and saturated blue colourway. The dark blue field provides a dramatic background for fifteen small geometric motifs, while the brighter perimeter and striped inner border create depth and visual definition.

Measuring 125 × 241 cm, its narrower proportions make it particularly suitable for a hallway, bedroom, study or smaller living space. The strong blue palette also makes the rug an excellent statement piece alongside both vintage and contemporary furniture.
