Vintage McGuire Bamboo Armchairs

A striking set of three armchairs by McGuire Furniture Company, produced in the USA during the 1970s. Crafted from dark-toned bamboo and rattan, the chairs feature McGuire’s characteristic exposed rawhide bindings, sculptural curved arms and decorative circular detailing across the backrests. The chairs are finished with removable leopard-print upholstered seat cushions, adding a bold contrast to the organic framework.

Sculptural Bamboo and Rawhide Construction

The chairs demonstrate the refined craftsmanship for which McGuire became recognised, combining carefully selected bamboo with traditional rawhide lacing at the joints. Curved side rails and subtly flared backrests soften the architectural construction, while the circular back detail gives the chairs a distinctive decorative character.
