This striking Italian table lamp by Toni Zuccheri features a large spherical hand-blown Murano glass globe resting on a sculptural polished chrome base. The transparent glass is decorated with flowing amber and dark green vertical trails, creating an organic graphic pattern characteristic of Zuccheri’s experimental approach to Venetian glass.

Sculptural Murano glass design

The substantial glass sphere has been individually blown, with coloured glass trails incorporated into the body of the globe. The irregularity of the lines and their convergence at the top emphasise the handmade nature of the piece, while the transparent glass allows the internal light source to remain visible.

Toni Zuccheri and Italian lighting design

Toni Zuccheri was one of the distinctive figures of post-war Italian glass design, known particularly for his innovative work with Venini and his unconventional use of colour, texture and form. Here, the organic character of the blown glass is contrasted by the broad polished chrome base, giving the lamp a strong Space Age Italian design presence.
