In Campania Italy, in the late nineteenth century a group of artists gave life to an extraordinarily innovative style, similar to Impressionism in Paris, were the so-called “Costaioli”(people that have “sea life” style who lives on the Italian coast line).The founder Gaetano Capone was born in Maiori and in its wake followed a large group of artists from Maiori and not: Raffaele D’Amato, Angelo Della Mura, Antonio Ferrigno, Luigi Paolillo; the amalfitans Enrico Lucibello and Pietro Scoppetta. In the first decades of the twentieth century it was followed by a second wave of artists: Antonio Rocco, Luca Albino, Manfredi Nicoletti, Ignazio Lucibello, Gaetano Cimini, Paolo Caruso, Ulderico Forcellini, Vittorio Acabbo.
